SEMARANG, KOMPAS - Semua kota di Tanah Air dinilai memiliki potensi besar untuk pengembangan penerbangan internasional dan domestik jika didukung infrastruktur dan kerja sama dari pemerintah setempat. Atas dasar inilah, AirAsia kembali membuka rute penerbangan baru yang menghubungkan Kota Semarang, Jawa Tengah, dengan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Maskapai ini akan terbang setiap hari antara Kuala Lumpur-Semarang.
Kami menggarap pasar turis China yang banyak sekali ditemui di Beijing.

Pembukaan rute penerbangan internasional yang baru tersebut ditandai dengan penerbangan perdana AirAsia AK 1310 dari Kuala Lumpur dan mendarat di Bandara Ahmad Yani, Semarang, Senin (6/2/2012). Penyambutan pesawat yang membawa 160 penumpang baik dari Malaysia maupun turis dari China ini dikemas dalam suasana Imlek.
Presiden Direktur AirAsia Indonesia Dharmadi, didampingi Direktur Komersial AirAsia Malaysia Jasmine Lee, mengungkapkan, Semarang merupakan kota ke-14 yang menjadi destinasi penerbangan AirAsia dari Kuala Lumpur. Sebelumnya, AirAsia terbang dari Kuala Lumpur ke Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Yogyakarta, Bandung, Denpasar, Solo, Balikpapan, Palembang, Aceh, Pekan Baru, Padang, dan Makassar.
”Setelah membuka penerbangan langsung Kuala Lumpur-Semarang, kami juga membuka rute penerbangan Jakarta-Semarang,” ujar Dharmadi pada acara peluncuran penerbangan perdana AirAsia Kuala Lumpur-Semarang, di Hotel Gumaya, Semarang, yang dihadiri Wali Kota Semarang Sumarmo HS dan Kepala Dinas Perhubungan Komunikasi dan Informatika Jateng Urip Sihabudin.
Baik Dharmadi maupun Jasmine menyatakan, rute Kuala Lumpur-Semarang memiliki potensi yang besar untuk menerbangkan penumpang, baik dari Kota Semarang maupun dari Kuala Lumpur. Bahkan, AirAsia membidik turis-turis asing, terutama dari China, Korea Selatan, dan Jepang, untuk berkunjung ke Kota Semarang.
”Kami menggarap pasar turis China yang banyak sekali ditemui di Beijing. Bahkan, tadi pagi (penerbangan perdana) ada penumpang dari Guangzhou yang tujuannya ke Semarang. Kami sangat percaya diri Semarang pasar yang bisa dikembangkan,” ujar Dharmadi yang kemarin juga meresmikan AirAsia Travel and Service Center (ATSC) di Simpanglima Semarang. (SON)
